Barbara Hallam-Price holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Alberta and a Master of Music degree in organ performance from the University of Western Ontario, where she studied with Dr. Gerhard Krapf and Dr. Larry Cortner, respectively. An Alberta Culture grant enabled further studies in Cambridge, England, with international organist, Dr. Peter Hurford.
Ms. Hallam-Price has held numerous church positions across Canada, including Associate Organist and interim Music Director at Grace Church on-the-Hill in Toronto and interim Music Director at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Ottawa. She has extensive experience with men and boys choirs and women and girls choirs. She has twice served as organist at Notre Dame Cathedral under Music Director, Michel Guimont (covering maternity leaves). Recently, Barb was Interim Music Director at Southminster United Church. Currently, Barb conducts the Women’s Choir at Notre Dame Cathedral.
Barb has been part of music at St John’s before, including coverage of a sabbatical by then music director Gordon Johnston in 2018. Following the retirement of Gordon Johnston, Barb began as Interim Music Director at St John’s in September 2023.
