Children are very welcome here.
Sundays - 8 a.m.
This service features a Children's Focus Table with the story laid out as a three-dimensional scene. Children have many roles in this service including reading the scriptures, setting the table for communion, giving the bread and the wine, and giving the dismissal.
Sundays - 10.15 a.m.
In this service, a children's procession follows the choir and worship leaders to the altar at the beginning of the service. Children continue their procession to the Godly Play program. The Godly Play method encourages participants to experience faith-building stories through intentional storytelling and imaginative wondering. The children and their teachers return to the church service in time to receive communion. They are welcome to sit with their families or stay at the children's table at the back of the church. At the conclusion of the service they join in giving the dismissal at the microphone.
Sundays - 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
St John's now offers Afternoon Children's Worship approximately every 6-8 weeks. This service generally focuses on a story theme and includes craft, Eucharist with children in leadership roles, snack and free play.
An Introduction to Godly Play
Godly Play Summary: Children begin in the worship service, and follow the teachers to the Godly Play Room for a time of storytelling, creativity, and a snack, and return to the worship service as people are coming forward to receive communion. For children who prefer to stay in the service, children are invited to colour and play with soft toys while overhearing the worship service at the Children's Table. St John's has trained children's ministry leaders and keeps safe church practices. Children are very welcome here. We look forward to meeting your child.
